Born and raised in Halifax, West Yorks. Oz transitioned to filmmaking after a successful teaching career. He trained at the National Film and Television School and completed Warner Discovery's HBO Director Mentorship Program on House of the Dragon S1, a 16 month placement under Emmy winner Miguel Sapochnik.
In 2025, Oz completed work as 2nd Unit Director on BBC's Black Ops Season 2. Oz shadowed Otto Bathurst on ITVX’s The Winter King. He's set to direct his first hour of broadcast TV. An alumnus of BBC & Directors UK Directors Scheme: Doctors . His romance short 'Opening Up (2024) and crime drama Mums the Word (2025) featured at over 40 festivals including Holly Shorts, Aesthetica and Bolton Film Festival. In 2023/24, his TV pilot scripts ranked in the top 3% and 9% of BBC Writersroom entries. Oz co-hosts The Director’s Take podcast and is part of BAFTA Connect. He took part in the Directors UK Inspire 24/25 cohort, mentored by Tessa Hoffe (Gangs of London 3, KIN).
